La Neige (which translates to “the snow” in French) is a South Korean skincare brand under the Amore Pacific umbrella and is well known for their delicious lip treatments. More specifically, their Allure Best of Beauty Award Winning Lip Sleeping Mask. And they just recently launched their new Lip Treatment Balm, which of course I had to get my hands on! I’ve been an avid lip balm user for years and since I’ve recently started using the Gummy Bear Lip Sleeping Mask and have experienced its effectiveness, I knew the Lip Treatment Balm had to be good. If you’re looking at which would be better for your needs, here’s the breakdown!
La Neige Lip Sleeping Mask
The La Neige Lip Sleeping Mask launched exclusively in Sephora in 2017 and currently carries 6 flavors. On the La Neige website, it has 8 if you’d like more choices – Mint Choco and Lemon Sorbe are the additional flavors. First of all, I have to say these scents are absolutely delicious and smells so edible! It really is such a treat to use this before I go to bed. My favorite flavor from them is Gummy Bear and it smells exactly how the Japanese grape soda (Sangaria Ramu) tastes.
What It Is
The Lip Sleeping Mask is a leave-on lip mask that deeply hydrates and provides smoother and more moisturized lips. It helps condition your lips overnight so you can wake up without chapped lips. It comes in a 20g jar.
How To Use
This lip sleeping mask comes with a mini silicone spatula which allows you to use the lip treatment more hygienically. Of course if you rather, you can use your fingers to apply it. Either way, you’ll need to make sure the spatula (or your fingers) are clean every time before and after use to not cross-contaminate your products! Once applied, you just leave this on overnight (that’s why I apply it before I go to sleep) and the next morning it’s already absorbed into your lips. If there’s any residual lip mask, you can just wipe it off or use water to wash it off. When I wash my face in the morning, I naturally wash my lips too so it makes it easier. Also, by the time I wake up, my lips have already absorbed it all. I guess I really need the lip treatment!
Texture
It doesn’t feel too heavy to me, but it coats the lips well. It feels kind of like a creamy balm but it’s not sticky which is a definite plus.
Key Ingredients
This lip mask has a Moisture Wrap technology that has hyaluronic acid for moisture and hydration as well as minerals that helps lock in the moisture.
Benefits
This lip mask fixes dry lips and the lip area, especially if you wear a lot of lip makeup. It also melts out dead skin cells from the lips overnight. The ability to address fine lines on the lips are a plus! Sometimes, the corners of my lips are so dry that it cracks and it gets quite painful, especially in the winter. By using this Lip Sleeping Mask once, it immediately fixed the problem overnight! Of course, I need to hydrate by drinking more water too.
Verdict
It’s a must-have in my beauty and skincare routine. This Lip Sleeping Mask has been a life saver for me and I just like the peace of mind that I’m working to nourish and hydrate my lips while I sleep.
New La Neige Lip Treatment Balm
So how does the La Neige Lip Treatment Balm differ from the Lip Sleeping Mask?
This Lip Treatment Balm is usable during the day and night. It’s also not as thick and can be used instead of a clear lip gloss as it has a bit of shimmer as well as plumping properties. It only comes in one scent it and it smells like a fresh pina colada.
What It Is
It’s a great daily lip treatment that can be used throughout the day for hydration. It instantly brightens the lips as well as provide shine, shimmer, and a little oomph. It also instantly smooths out any lines you have on the lips. You also do not need to wash this off like you do with the lip mask. It comes in a 10g jar.
How To Use
This lip treatment balm conveniently comes with an applicator that’s built-in to the lid. This helps you not to lose it and have a cleaner way to apply your lip balm when needed. Of course, it’s better to clean the silicone applicator after each use before storing it back into the lid. Just apply like you would with any lip balm or lipstick!
Texture
It feels like a very smooth balm, but slightly thicker than a chapstick. It feels very hydrating and can be worn on its own. It’s also not sticky which is important especially for people who have long hair! It also has a cooling, very slightly tingly sensation when first applied which actually feels quite nice.
Key Ingredients
This lip treatment balm has coconut oil, peptides (amino acids that help boost collagen), adenosine (anti-aging and healing properties).
Benefits
This lip treatment balm has instant effects! If your lips are dry, it quickly gets rid of fine lines and moisturizes right away while giving you a natural plumped pout. After continued use, you will also see long-term effects of smoother lips.
Verdict
I would say buy it if you have the money for it. You can go through lip balms quickly as you use it multiple times on a daily basis. And for a smaller size than the Lip Sleeping Mask, it is a little pricier. But I do love the ingredients in it, how it looks on my lips as well as the cooling sensation it has. This lip treatment balm feels like an everyday luxury experience for me and I do prefer it much better than regular chapsticks or lip balms. I also love the jar that it comes in and the overall design.
