The 2021 Sephora Winter Saving Event is arriving next week and I’ve already planned my shopping cart in advance! Although I’ve purchased a ton of beauty products from various places since the Spring Saving Event in April and am stocked up for quite a while, I still want to be able to get my hands on a few Sephora favorites during this sale. Plus, I’m on the search for specific beauty items I want to test out to make comparisons and find my favorites – also why I’m purchasing a few things in the mini size although it’s not always the best deal.
I will admit that 2021 is the year that I’ve probably spent the most on makeup and skincare products so far. I just keep finding sales and good deals that I just can’t pass up – they were that good. But after this Sephora Winter Saving Event, I’m going to do my best in 2022 to put a halt on the amount I purchase. Also, with the amount of beauty products I have, I want to be able to use them all before they go bad. And I’m purchasing products faster than I can review them for you on my blog!
So let’s get into the details of the 2021 Sephora Winter Saving Event and what I have in my shopping cart this time around.
What Is The 2021 Sephora Winter Saving Event?
As I’ve explained in detail in my first Sephora Saving Event blog post, these saving events happen twice a year during spring and winter. Below is a chart of the details of when the event starts according to the Sephora membership tier you are according to how much money you spend per calendar year as well as the amount of discount you get and the shipping fees. Of course, you can also shop this event in person to avoid any shipping fees if you aren’t spending a lot.
Tier | Insider | VIB | Rouge |
Start Date | November 11 | November 9 | November 5 |
Discount | 10% | 15% | 20% |
Shipping | $50 minimum | $35 minimum | No minimum |
$ Amount To Qualify | None | $350 | $1000 |
For Sephora Collection products, you can get 30% off all items during this saving event.
Remember to read the fine print – there are some limitations such as being able to purchase 1 Dyson item, 5 Morphe items, and 3 Tarte Shape Tape Concealers per SKU per transaction. The discount also doesn’t apply to The Ordinary products or MAC Cosmetics VIVA GLAM products.
Details – Dates And Discount Code
This year, the code is YAYHOLIDAY and the Sephora Winter Saving Event starts on November 5, 2021 and ends on November 15, 2021. Rouge members get first access, followed by VIB members 4 days later, then finally Insiders 2 days after that.
The advantage to being a Rouge member is that you get first dibs on the products you want to purchase. If you’re an Insider, cross your fingers that the items you want will still be in stock! They usually are, but there will be several popular items that get sold out quickly.
What’s In My Shopping Cart This 2021 Sephora Winter Saving Event?
As I’ve said above, there are a few beauty products I need to get in order to make comparisons on that category and be able to recommend and write about the best items in my blog. Currently, I’m obsessing over setting powders and setting sprays. Especially since we have to wear masks so often during the pandemic, I find that my makeup always transfers so I’m on the hunt for the best ones out there. And the only item that I’m low on in my beauty inventory are toners which I’ll be adding to my cart. I’m also going to be trying out a couple makeup primers to see if they really make a difference in my makeup application and lasting power compared to the current ones I have.
Setting Powder
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder
A cult favorite and an award winning setting powder, I knew I had to try the Laurier Mercier setting powder. I chose the color Honey for medium skin tones. It’s long-wearing and has a matte finish. It has sheer coverage and absorbs oil to help your makeup last all day. Apparently, people love it because the powder is denser than other powders which provides a smooth and even application and provides a great canvas for applying blush and bronzer. Plus, it’s a no flashback formula so it would work great with foundations that contain sunscreen (titanium dioxide – which isn’t always labeled on the packaging so be sure to check the ingredients list) if you’re going to take photos with flash.
Setting Spray
As I’m on the hunt for the best setting sprays out there, I wanted to add a couple more to my current collection. Unfortunately, the Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray that I tried a couple of bottles of during my university years is actually not all the rage. I gave it another chance earlier this year as I’m sure the formulation has changed but it’s still a no for me. While I have found a couple setting sprays I like, I think it would be fair to try a few a few more popular brands out.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Dewy Set Hydrating Setting Spray in Original Coconut Vanilla
The Anastasia Beverly Hills setting spray comes in 3 scents. I didn’t want something too overbearing so I chose the original scent in coconut vanilla. It has a radiant, but not oily finish and is good for dark circles, fine lines, and wrinkles. It is also hydrating and great for dry skin. There has been mixed reviews in terms of whether people like it or not, but I thought I’d give it a try since there are some who say it allows their makeup to last all day in hot weather. And since I travel often, I’d like my makeup to last in a hot and humid climate.
Too Faced 3 In 1 Replenishing Primer & Setting Spray
Not only does the Too Faced setting spray allow your makeup to stay in place and last longer, it is also a primer and can reset your makeup, hence the 3 in 1. Like the majority of setting sprays, this one also helps your skin stay hydrated throughout the day. The Too Faced primer and setting spray also has coconut and probiotic ingredients that give your skin a boost and promotes skin elasticity which seem like a pretty good thing to me! As usual, there are mixed reviews so in this case, I definitely feel like I need to make the decision for myself! Once I figure out the best setting sprays out there, I’ll share that in a blog post with you!
Toner
Now, toner is an item I haven’t used consistently throughout the years so I’m in the process of searching for my top favorites. But in 2021, I thought I’d make more of an effort to use a toner in my skincare routine as it helps balance out the pH of your skin after cleansing your face and removes any leftover makeup that was not dissolved in previous steps.
The Inkey List Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner
The Inkey List Glycolic Acid Excfoliating Toner is supposed to reduce the appearance of pores, control excess oil, and help with fine lines for smoother and brighter skin. I’ve been using The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution and have used about 2 bottles so I thought I’d give The Inkey List a try since the price is super affordable and this brand has good products and great reviews. However, between the 2, The Ordinary is more than double the size of The Inkey List and a few dollars cheaper. But, The Inkey List has 10% glycolic acid while The Ordinary has 7%. I would definitely introduce this slowly (use it a couple times a week) as I did notice that The Ordinary’s glycolic acid toner caused my skin to purge a little bit. Don’t forget to use this only in the PM and wear sunscreen the next day!
I’ve been wanting to try the Farmacy Deep Sweep 2% BHA Pore Cleaning Toner for a while so when is saw this in a set, it gave me a chance to try the Whipped Greens cleanser for the same price as the full size toner. Worth it to me to try more products out! This is more for oily and combination skin and helps clean pores and control oil production without over-stripping the skin. I have normal/combination skin type but for the times I do break out, I think this would come in handy. I’ve read really good things about this toner so hopefully this won’t be too drying for me!
Ole Henriksen Mini Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner
Another toner I really wanted to try! The Ole Henriksen Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner is a super-charged and potent toner with glycolic and lactic acid for dark spots, texture, and uneven skin tone. Which are targeting problems I need help with! And, it’s supposed to start working in as little as 7 days. I mean, who doesn’t like fast results? I’d love for things to work overnight (especially acne products), but a week sounds good too. This is also to be used in the PM, so make sure you have a different toner for the mornings.
Primer
Tatcha Liquid Silk Canvas: Featherweight Protective Primer
I absolutely love Tatcha products, so I have high expectations for the Tatcha primer. This primer provides a natural finish and is good for pores. It also protects the skin from pollutants (which I’m a fan of) and helps your makeup last longer and look better. This formula acts as a barrier between the skin and makeup to prevent clogged pores and breakouts. Also, you’ll see an improvement in fine line and wrinkles
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer
The Fenty Beauty primer stops shine, pore-diffuses, and makes way for a smooth foundation application and provides longer wear. Fenty’s unique formula mattifies the skin while giving a filter-like blurring effect which I would really love. I don’t use makeup primers often so I really hope that trying these 2 primers in addition to a few I currently have, will prove to me that there is big difference between using a makeup primer and not using one for my foundation and makeup. But at least with using one, it gives me peace of mind that it protects my pores from being clogged with makeup!
