I’ve been watching Jaclyn Hill, one of the OG beauty Youtubers, on and off throughout the years since she first started. The last couple of years, I got really interested thanks to Instagram and her beauty brand, Jaclyn Cosmetics. I always love testing new beauty products and knowing Jaclyn’s background and experience, I was interested in trying out her brand to see if it was really different from every other celebrity that releases their own beauty brands. Also being that Jaclyn is the queen of glow with her successful collaboration with Becca Cosmetics and her famous Champagne Pop highlighter (now owned by Smashbox Cosmetics), I’ve been hooked. I didn’t start purchasing Jaclyn Cosmetics products until 2021, but I had her eyeshadow palette where she collaborated with Morphe and I was impressed with the buttery, creamy and pigmented colors they had. I came in after her failed lipstick launches and didn’t think too much of it but knew it wouldn’t affect what I thought of her or her products in the future since I needed to try them out myself before making any judgment. I didn’t know what to expect but had high expectations.

I stayed on the sidelines for a little while observing Jaclyn Cosmetics product releases since I like to take my time and read reviews in order to selectively curate a list of products I’d like to purchase from her brand. So I was keeping an eye out for sales (I purchased a majority of her products 20-70% off) and then purchased a large majority of her products to try for myself. And now I’ve come to the point where I can make a fairly full review of Jaclyn Cosmetics products and be able to give my recommendations on what is worth purchasing.

Note: As of January 2024, Jaclyn Cosmetics has closed down.

Jaclyn Cosmetics Packaging

One of the reasons I was really attracted to Jaclyn Cosmetics was because the packaging looked so high-end and classy. The quality looked really good and it made it feel like a boujee experience. Plus, it’ll look really good on my vanity. When I received my packages, I was quite impressed and they felt what I imagined them to be after seeing photos and videos. It didn’t feel lightweight or cheap and the packaging felt like prestige cosmetics. The only products that did feel a little on par with the rest of the cosmetics companies were the lip treatment, liquid lipsticks, skin tint, and concealer – but those are pretty basic products that usually look the same across different brands.

Jaclyn Cosmetics Shipping

Shipping is free in the US if you spend over $30 USD. Shipping costs $10 USD to Canada, but keep in mind that you will need to pay customs fees. I think I spent around $60-70 USD one time on Jaclyn Cosmetics and shipped it to my address in Canada and ended up paying $22 CAD in customs fees. That’s why I prefer to ship my orders to the US, so it does take a bit of time for me to receive them in person depending on when I’m flying over.

Where Jaclyn Cosmetics Is Made

Jaclyn Cosmetics products are made in Italy, Korea, and the US.

Jaclyn Cosmetics Product Review

Prime And Set Collection

Jaclyn Cosmetics

The step to getting a flawless complexion is to be able to prime your skin and set your skin.

Skin Perfecting Oil Primer

You can prep, prime, and nourish your skin with the Jaclyn Cosmetics Skin Perfecting Oil Primer. You can wear this alone or under your makeup and it also has a subtle pink tint. You only need 2 to 3 drops of the primer and you should let it absorb before applying your makeup. You can also mix it in with your foundation or concealer which gives you a glowy look and can bring your coverage to medium.

Key Ingredients: Almond oil and squalane to help lock in moisture and give a natural, dewy finish.

Price: $34 USD – 27 ml

My Thoughts: I’ve never used an oil-based primer so I thought it would be heavy on the face but it was surprisingly not. Especially if you use the right amount and you literally only need 2 to 3 drops and it’s enough for the entire face. It makes your face very smooth and adds a glow to it. It is very smooth so applying makeup after was a breeze.

Verdict: I actually quite liked using the oil primer and my makeup worked really well with it. It provided a smooth canvas, hydration, and a healthy glow. I’d also gladly use this on its own as well, but probably more towards the winter months.

All Set Setting Spray

This super fine facial mist primes, sets, conditions, and keeps your face looking fresher longer.

Key Ingredients: Lavender oil, coconut oil, sea water, peppermint oil, moringa oleifera seed extract for a nourishing, natural finish

Price: $28 USD – 213 ml

My Thoughts: The nozzle is pretty good with the fact that it mists wide enough to cover a majority of the face. I was surprised that it has kind of a soapy smell. But it works and my makeup lasted pretty well for the day. It also dries down fairly quickly. I’m actually glad the setting spray has a natural finish since a lot of the Jaclyn Cosmetics products already provide a lot of glow. Just remember to shake the bottle before applying it.

Verdict: I would use it again, but I don’t think I’d go out of my way to purchase it because of the soapy smell.

Powder Move Loose Face Powder

This loose face powder blurs and smooths the appearance of your skin while helping set your makeup. It has a soft-focus finish and subtle radiance. There are also 6 shades to choose from. Jaclyn Hill hack’s for using Power Move is to use a few shades at once. A brighter shade is best used for the middle of the face and a slightly deeper shade for the perimeter of the face for additional dimension and contour.

Key Ingredients: Squalane to help lock in moisture and a key amino acid and aloe deliver a silky feel while calming the skin.

Price: $30 USD – 9.8 g

My Thoughts: I chose the shade Sheer Medium since Sheer Tan looked a bit too dark for me but I may check this shade out in person next time I visit an Ulta Beauty or Morphe store to make sure. The face powder is sheer enough but also has some color and I found that Sheer Medium was slightly too light for the perimeter of my face so I use it very sparingly there. It didn’t add much color to my makeup but considering the product isn’t a universal shade or translucent for all skin tones, I would rather my face powder not be lighter than my foundation. It was also very soft and definitely blurred my skin and gave it somewhat of a filtered look which I really liked.

Verdict: I would purchase this again and also see if Sheer Tan may work better for my skin tone. Overall, it sets my makeup pretty well and I also always love a blurring effect for a face powder. It feels very fine and high quality like the rest of her products and you can see that the powder has some glow to it.

Last Act Translucent Setting Powder

You can set your makeup with this silky-smooth pressed powder for a flawless finish. It’s a super-fine powder infused with subtle pearl pigments for a soft, blurring effect without disturbing your makeup. With a pressed powder, you can set your makeup with maximum precision and minimal fall-out. You can use a fluffy brush to apply it all over your face or press it into your skin with a beauty sponge. This setting powder can help diffuse harsh lines on the face or if you over-applied blush or bronzer.

Key Ingredients: No specific ingredient to call out.

Price: $29 USD – 10 g

My Thoughts: The Last Act Translucent Setting Powder kind of reminds me of the Nars Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder. Even though it’s a white powder, it works for all skin tones. When using my makeup brush, it barely even makes a dent into the setting powder and still looks brand new after a few uses. I actually love that it’s not a loose powder so there’s no fall-out and it’s an easy compact you can bring with you if needed. It does provide a pearlized finish and when applied to the under-eyes, I noticed it brightened my eyes as well and blurred any harsh lines. So, I don’t think I would over-apply this as it might lighten your makeup but it works great as an overall setting powder.

Verdict: To be honest, when I used this I actually liked it more than the Powder Move Setting Powder, plus the packaging is smaller so it’s easier to take with me when I travel. I love the lack of fall-out and not having to waste any product. It is very precise if I use a smaller brush for under my eyes for blurring and diffusing light. A larger fluffy brush works very well for the entire face as well.

First Base Eyeshadow Primer

This eyeshadow primer is a sheer, translucent formula that dries down matte. It makes your eyeshadow last longer, stops creasing, and provides a better pigment payoff.

Key Ingredients: Hyaluronic Filling Spheres visibly smoothen the look of your skin.

Price: $20 USD – 9 ml

My Thoughts:  I was surprised with how creamy and light it was so you definitely don’t need a lot of product. It’s very easy to spread with your fingers so don’t overuse it. It worked decently well with making my eyeshadow last and lessen any crease, but it did allow my eyeliner to last all day which is the most important to me.

Verdict: The effects of the eyeshadow primer worked for the most part – just had a very slight crease in my eyeshadow. I still prefer using other eyeshadow primers and a less creamy version, but the Jaclyn Cosmetics one does work.

Bake & Brighten Under Eye Powder

Bake & Brighten is made for the delicate under-eye area with a colour-neutralizing powder that brightens dark circles. This lightweight powder counteracts under-eye imperfections and sets concealer without creasing for a flawless look. There are 5 shades and the Brightening Banana is perfect for me, although I purchased the Brightening Lilac to try out as well. You can use a beauty sponge or a dense brush to press the powder in to set the concealer. For baking, apply a generous layer to your still-damp concealer and leave on for 5 to 10 minutes, then lightly dust off the excess. Not only does this powder brighten the under-eyes, it works for all over the face too and is great for cleaning up your contour.

Key Ingredients: Rich shea butter and smoothing banana flower to help lock in moisture.

Price: $29 USD – 6 g

My Thoughts: I was actually really excited to use this after I saw demonstrations of people using the Bake & Brighten Under Eye Powder since it instantly brightened the under-eyes and we all know I need a little help in that department. Besides the Jaclyn Cosmetics liquid lipsticks, this was the first product I tried from her collection. I was blown away by how effective the under-eye powder was and it immediately brightened my under-eyes significantly without looking cakey or too light. This was a total game changer to all the setting powders I’ve ever used and I don’t think I can ever go without this product. I also apply some of it to set any makeup on top of the lines around my nose and mouth area to soften the look a bit more.

Verdict: At the moment, this is my favorite product from Jaclyn Cosmetics. It works and is so different from the many setting powders out there that can be used to brighten the under-eyes. I don’t even need to bake and there’s an instant brightening effect and it sets my concealer and foundation beautifully. I highly recommend trying this product out especially if you like to brighten up your eye area.

Hydrapout Lip Treatment

This lip treatment is silky and is the perfect prep for the Jaclyn Cosmetics Poutspoken Liquid Lipstick. Their special blend of emollients help keep the lips hydrated, soothed, and smooth. It has a light refreshing mint scent with a glossy finish that is not sticky. You can wear this alone, at night as a treatment, or as a primer before your lips products. It comes in 2 shades, one is clear and the other has a pink tint. I purchased the clear one so I can wear it at night since I’m not a fan of wearing gloss or having color in my lip balms or lip treatments.

Key Ingredients: Vitamin E to naturally condition, shea and cocoa butter that are rich in fatty acids to help protect the lips, and sodium hyaluronate to retain moisture.

Price: $20 USD – 8.5 ml

My Thoughts: I heard many great reviews about the Hydrapout Lip Treatment and I’m always skeptical of lip treatments when they’re a gloss but I knew I had to try it. I also saw on Jaclyn’s Instagram story that she used Vaseline on her lips one time because she ran out of her lip treatment and it did not work. And when she used her lip treatment again, the effects happened overnight. I can relate because rarely any lip balms, treatments, or masks work for my lips except the La Neige Lip Sleeping Mask. I finally gave this a try and used it overnight when my lips have been really dry and peeling and the next morning it was like my lips were completely healed and brand new. They were so smooth, soft, and hydrated – I was impressed! I also tested this out prior to applying my Jaclyn Cosmetics Poutspoken Liquid Lipstick and it made a huge difference as to how hydrated my lips were and my lipstick didn’t even crack for the entire day. I’ll explain more of this under the Poutspoken Liquid Lipstick review section.

Verdict: The Hydrapout Lip Treatment works and I loved the results. I only wish this came in a larger size because I would love to stock up on this. I’m lip balm obsessed and if this transforms my lips and heals the corners of my mouth, I’m all for it. I’ll absolutely be adding this to my beauty collection permanently. This also might be the solution to any long-lasting matte liquid lips since I always wear lip balm before applying liquid lipsticks and none of them had had this kind of effect.

Complexion Collection

Jaclyn Cosmetics Complexion Collection

Skin Perfecting Blurring Tint

The Skin Perfecting Blurring Tint is a blurring primer and tinted moisturizer. It’s not a foundation, but a sheer coverage tint that provides a natural finish and blurs texture and enhances the look of your natural skin with an added glow. It comes in 12 shades and I chose the shade Medium.

Key Ingredients: Beta-Glucan visibly improves the skin tone and sodium hyaluronate draws in moisture and hydration.

Price: $34 USD – 30 ml

My Thoughts: I was very skeptical about the Skin Perfecting Blurring Tint because I only wear full-coverage foundations. I don’t have the best skin and light coverage just does not do it for me. I also read not-so-great reviews about the blurring tint and concealer so I didn’t have high expectations for this. However, when I tried it, I was surprised by how good it actually was. It’s very lightweight on the skin which I loved, unlike all the other skin tints I’ve tried from brands like Fenty Beauty, Huda Beauty, and more which actually felt like a full coverage foundation.

On the first application, I thought it wouldn’t have enough coverage since I can still see my skin quite well through it, but it provided a very nice tint and coverage to my skin. I only needed to apply a little more to any acne scars and it was able to cover them completely and my skin looked flawless. I did notice that the shade Medium was a little too light for me and would prefer a skin tint that was slightly darker. However, a good bronzer easily fixed the issue and blended the colors perfectly so it looked more natural. I didn’t find that it dried down that quickly, but I felt that it stayed on my skin very well and had a very good lasting power. I used a brush to apply this and it went on very nicely. If you find you need more coverage, a concealer easily helps with this.

Verdict: This skin tint performed much better than I expected and I actually like to use this over a full coverage foundation as an everyday “foundation”. I ended up loving this and I want to buy more before they’re discontinued. I got the Skin Perfecting Blurring Tint for about 70% off at the Morphe store when I was in Minneapolis at the Mall of America and the staff there told me that Jaclyn is discontinuing this and the concealer and reformulating or making something new (this was in August 2022).

Faux Filler Perfecting Concealer

This lightweight, buildable concealer provides medium to full coverage with a matte finish. It visibly brightens and blurs and comes in 35 shades. It’s best to use this after an under-eye primer (or a hydrating eye cream) and quickly blend it out with a damp beauty sponge. The concealer does set quickly since it has a strong staying power and will dry down faster than other concealers. I purchased this in the shades Light Medium Yellow and Medium Tan Neutral as there weren’t many shades left since this too was also on sale for about 70% off.

Key Ingredients: No specific ingredient to call out.

Price: $26 USD – 6.7 ml

My Thoughts: Despite the reviews on how the concealer dries too fast and the learning curve in using this as told by many reviewers, I still wanted to give this a try as concealers are one of my favorite beauty products. I really had high hopes that this would be a great concealer but when I tried it, it performed a little worse than other concealers I’ve used. Not because it dried down fast, I was easily able to work with it since I blend in my makeup quite quickly. But solely because I made a small smudge when applying the rest of my makeup and when I tried to fix the mistake, it just took off more of the concealer under my eyes. And trust me, it did not look nice since it looked like it was missing a pretty big spot so I had to use a little more of the concealer, skin tint and setting powder to fix the mistake. But by then, it was already not blending well.

Verdict: The concealer didn’t work well for me and although I love the concept of a long-wearing concealer, the application part needs to be easier. Also the fact that I can’t fix any mistakes easily is a no for me. I’m hoping that whatever Jaclyn comes out with next to replace this will be much better as I’m always in the market to try a new concealer.

Blush And Bronzer Collection

Jaclyn Cosmetics Bronze & Blushing Duo

Bronze & Blushing Duo

The Bronze & Blushing duo has shades that complement each other to build a flawlessly blended, sunkissed bronze look. They deliver as oft-focus blurred finish and brush on like second skin. Each blush and bronzer shade is hand-poured in Italy using the same proprietary filling process as the popular Accent Light Highlighters which gives them a silky-soft texture. You can also apply the blush sheerly or build up to an intense flush of color. It has a soft sheen so you can use it as a highlighter too for a more colorful glow. There are 7 duos to choose from. I purchased the duo in the shades Warm Flush / Golden Goddess.

Key Ingredients: No specific ingredient to call out.

Price: $36 USD – Blush 4 g / Bronzer 5 g

My Thoughts: The shades are absolutely gorgeous and I’m looking forward to purchasing the Sunkissed / Bronze Moment duo. I loved how the bronzer applied to my skin and it was the perfect shade for me. I also love that it isn’t orange but gave me the perfect sunkissed bronze look. I rarely wear blush but the shade also matched the bronzer perfectly and looked very natural on my skin – actually, both did.

Verdict: I absolutely love this Bronze & Blushing Duo. The shades looked so natural and gave me a beautiful glow and added a touch of color to my face. I didn’t need to use much of it but it provided the exact effect I wanted sand there was barely any fallout. I was really impressed with how stunning it looked and how easy it was to apply. It’s become one of my favorite bronzers and now I can’t go without the blush either!

Highlighter Collection

Jaclyn Cosmetics Accent Light Highlighters

Accent Light Highlighter

This super creamy highlighter has shimmering, buildable shades that apply seamlessly to the skin. They come in 8 shades the shades Awestruck and Iced come in a mini size. You can also mix 2 or more Accent Light shades to create a multi-dimensional glow.

Key Ingredients: No specific ingredient to call out.

Price: $29 USD – 5 g

My Thoughts: Knowing how amazing the Jaclyn Hill collaboration with Becca Cosmetics was and how Champagne Pop has become a staple highlighter in many people’s makeup must-haves, I knew her Accent Light Highlighters had to be good. Not much product is needed and I’m already glowing from all angles. I especially like the shades Iced and Mesmerized. I found that Awestruck can somewhat double as a blush too because of its blushing rose color.

Verdict: The colors are gorgeous and it’s always good to have something on par with Champagne Pop. And I know Jaclyn knows what she’s doing when it comes to highlighters! Although there are many good highlighters out there, for me, so far nothing else has come close to what Jaclyn has created.

Lipsticks

Poutspoken Liquid Lipstick

The Poutspoken Liquid Lipsticks have a buildable formula that gives you unstoppable color and stays put all day. With only one swipe, you get a creamy, high-pigment color that dries down to a gorgeous, long-lasting matte finish. It is created to feel moisturizing and comfortable on your lips all day. It has a soft cake batter scent that’s very subtle. Each shade also comes with a matching lip liner. Currently, there are 15 Neutral Shades, 7 Bold and Brights shades, and 4 Luxe shades.

Key Ingredients: Synethetic beeswax, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and avocado oil for hydration.

Price: $20 USD – 3.5 ml

My Thoughts: Ever since Kylie Cosmetics, I have loved matte liquid lipsticks because they last all day. I was also ready to finally try something new and I have an affinity for neutral shades so I thought this would be perfect for me. I purchased the shades Get Real, Absolutely, Oh Hai, Truth, Confidence, and Empowered and they match me really well. But I did find that they were a bit more drying than the Kylie Cosmetics ones and cracked quite quickly when it dried down even when I had a good amount of lip balm on. The only time it didn’t do that was when I used the Jaclyn Cosmetics Hydrapout Lip Treatment before applying the Poutspoken Liquid Lipsticks. I would prefer more of a matte finish only because I wouldn’t have to worry about my hair touching my lips or having to wear a face mask. After applying the lip treatment, it does keep my lipstick “wet” all day so it does come off a bit when I wipe my lips. But I will say the color still stays even after eating oily foods, I just need to reapply if I want the perfect, freshly-applied lipstick look.

Verdict: I’m still trying to figure out the best way to wear the Jaclyn Cosmetics Liquid Lipsticks because I don’t have an endless supply of the Hydrapout Lip Treatment and I have so many other lip balms to use before I purchase more. The other option is to maybe blend it out with a lip brush immediately after applying or continue to apply a lip balm on top of the lipstick. Either way, I love the shades and will likely continue to purchase them but hope the formula may be improved in the future just so that it won’t crack when it dries down.

Overall Thoughts On Jaclyn Cosmetics

  1. I am very impressed with Jaclyn Cosmetics overall and a majority of her products have become a staple in my beauty collection. They perform very well and give me just what I’m looking for with my makeup.
  2. I’m also obsessed with how beautiful the packaging is and how high quality and classy they look and feel. I wish more makeup products were this luxurious because they look so fancy on my vanity.
  3. Prices are fairly decent and the sales are amazing when they’re available.
  4. The only product I’ve tried that didn’t quite work out for me is already in the works of being replaced so it’s great that she’s aware and doing something about it.
  5. Update: I’m really sad the brand has closed down as some of the products have been a staple in my makeup arsenal!
