Cabo San Lucas is located on the most southern tip of Baja California and is known for its marine life, stunning rock formations, and lavish Caribbean lifestyle with its many luxurious spas, top-ranked golf courses, and award-winning restaurants. If you’re ready for a vacation full of rest and relaxation as well as a bit of pampering and natural beauty, this is the place to visit. To help you get started, here are the best things to do in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to make the most of your well-deserved vacation.

1 – Start With Staying At An All-Inclusive Hotel

Sandos Finisterra - Los Cabos, Mexico

Generally, beach resorts and all-inclusive hotels are safer for tourists to stay in the Caribbean. Not only is there added security, but you have access to unlimited food and drinks and many different hotel amenities. Plus, you will have on-site concierges to help you book your excursions to visit other parts of the country you’re visiting. This can make it very convenient for you to enjoy your time, especially in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico – I stayed at the Sandos Finisterra resort and had an amazing and very luxurious time there. Here’s When To Choose An All-Inclusive Vacation and more information n the all-inclusive resorts I’ve stayed at.

2 – Beach-Hopping With A Boat Tour

One of the most popular attractions in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is their beaches and unique rock formations they have at the Arch of Cabo San Lucas and Pelican Rock. To get here, you will need to take a boat tour and, on this tour, they will also take you to a couple of popular beaches such as Lover’s Beach (Playa del Amor) and Divorce Beach. Lover’s Beach is swimmable, but there are dangerous rip tides and high waves over the other side of the bank at Divorce Beach.

A lot of the beaches in Cabo (including some resorts) are not swimmable because of the rip currents. Although it looks serene with its beautiful clear waters, it can be quite dangerous to swim in.

Don’t forget, here are the Essentials You Should Pack In Every Beach Bag

3 – Luxury Yacht / Catamaran Excursion / Sunset Boat Tour

What better way to enjoy the crystal-clear waters than to sail through them on either a luxury yacht, a catamaran excursion, or a sunset boat tour being offered in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico? You can relax and soak up the sun in comfort and sail through the seas and explore the natural wonders of Cabo and see a majority of the places I listed above in the boat tours. In addition, you will be able to see incredible sea life including whales (depending on the time of year), dolphins, rays, sea lions, and much more. A lot of these tours are also all-inclusive and will include an unlimited open bar.

4 – Take Up Adventurous Outdoor Activities

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico offers many adventurous outdoor activities that you won’t want to miss out on. And I’m grouping many different activities into this fourth point because Wild Canyon Adventures actually offers a Park Pass so that you can do a majority of these experiences in one place. They also have bungee jumping, a sling swinger, UTVs, and an animal sanctuary. However, there are also plenty of tours and excursions you can take outside of Wild Canyon and book separately but I will call out a few that you’ll find quite unique and fun for your trip to this beautiful part of Mexico.

Ride A Camel

Probably surprising to some people, including me, is that Cabo San Lucas is part beach, part desert. And hence why you can take a camel ride in this area of Mexico. The camels here are on eco farms and you can even have limited interactions with other crowds at most of them if you like to have a quitter experience with fewer people around. Not only will you experience a camel ride, but you will be fed a traditional Mexican buffet lunch, have a guided nature walk, and much more depending on which tour you go with. You’ll also get to see the amazing views of the mountains and ocean.

Sandboarding

I’ve only done sandboarding in Dubai, but Cabo San Lucas, Mexico also offers this unique experience due to them being part desert! But the difference here is that you get to sandboard closer to the beach here. You can check out Viator for this activity and you’ll find that you can lump other activities into this one tour as well. Another option is to try the Airbnb Experience with Sandboarding Cabo

Ride ATVs

You can explore the Baja desert by way of ATV and this exhilarating tour will take you through the Mexican mountain trails and give you a buffet lunch with tequila tasting to keep you going. You’ll be provided full protective gear but always remember to be careful on these vehicles!

Zipline

Now that you’ve done some activities on land, here are some in the air: ziplining in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! You can get your adrenaline pumping through the zipline courses in Cabo, cross a suspension bridge, and swing from a rope. Here you can enjoy scenic views through the treetops of Mexico.

Parasail

Let’s take it a step further and go even higher into the sky by parasailing in Cabo. You’ll be parasailing up to 600 feet above the waters and have the perfect views of the Arch, Pelican Rock, Lover’s Beach, and Divorce Beach.

Many certified divers visit this incredible underwater location to explore the sea life here.

The beautiful marina at Cabo is a charming waterfront with many restaurants, shops, and hotels along the scenic seaside. Also known as the Museum of Natural History and the Museum of California, you’ll need about 1.5 hours here where you’ll see multiple displays of the geological and archaeological history of Baja California Sur. Located in the city center, this museum currently has exhibits covering the biodiversity of the sea, astronomy, and the land in this area of Mexico.

10 – Hike Mount Solmar

This hike is under 2 miles out and back and here you will find a challenging, but rewarding climb here. It is located on private land so you will need to take a guided climb at Mount Solmar from the owners. It will take you 440 feet over Lands End with breathtaking mountain and sea views of Cabo San Lucas.

11 – Take A Whale Shark Tour

On the west coast of Mexico, you have the opportunity to take a whale shark tour if you’re willing to go about 2 hours away from Cabo. Whale sharks don’t normally come near Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo, so you will need to go a little farther out and swim or dive with these gentle giants in La Paz. Don’t be put off by the word shark, these whale sharks feed on plankton and not aggressive like the typical sharks you think about it!

12 – Go Deep Sea Fishing

Throughout the year, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is great for deep-sea fishing so if fishing is a sport you like, don’t miss out! There are many great fishing spots, great weather, and even private tours for you to make the most out of your fishing expedition. Cabo San Lucas is the marlin capital of the world, but you can also fish for sailfish, tuna, and much more depending on what month you visit Cabo and all equipment will be provided as well.

You’ll be able to taste a variety of tacos and tostadas and a mix of fruity and alcoholic beverages. You can even learn to prepare your very own authentic Mexican meals from start to finish in a half-day cooking class alongside a local chef, shop for fresh ingredients at a local market, and learn the special techniques and recipes of Mexican cuisine.

14 – Visit Flora Farms

This 25-acre farm offers a vacation rental where you have the option to stay overnight and immerse yourself in the farm experience at Flora Farms. This running farm allows you to learn about the history and evolution of Flora Farms as well as experience an on-property kitchen, bar, grocery market, shop, and spa, you can partake in nature-based services in a peaceful setting as well as a full field-to-table culinary experience. You can even take cooking and art classes as well as tortilla-making classes and I’m sure you will find yourself having a very relaxing time here as part of your vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

15 – Cascada Sol De Mayo Waterfall

About 1.5 hours away at the base of the Sierra Laguna mountains is the Cascada Sol De Mayo Waterfall. It is about a 30-foot waterfall with refreshing waters to swim in. It is well-maintained and you can even go hiking or cliff-jumping here. The scenery is breathtaking and very scenic so it will make for a very nice excursion during one of your days in Cabo San Lucas!
